MURS & ¡Mayday! Announce ¡MursDay! Album Arriving June 10

Group Sets Out On First Ever ¡MursDay! Tour

April 16, 2014

(Los Angeles, CA) LA rapper/entrepreneur MURS and Miami hip-hop group ¡Mayday! are collaborating on the album, ¡MursDay!, which is scheduled for a June 10 release on Strange Music. The artists worked together on “Hardcore Bitches,” a song from ¡Mayday!’s 2012 album, Take Me To Your Leader. Since then, they have recorded and toured together, setting the stage for ¡MursDay! Fans who pre-order ¡MursDay! will receive a free downloadable link for their song “Zombies”. Album cover art and tracklist below.

“When we did our first record together, we really hit it off vibewise and we started kicking it with MURS every time we passed through his area on tour,” ¡Mayday!’s Wrekonize says. “Doing an album together really just came out of an organic friendship. He’s such a nice dude and he’s so talented. Plus, I’ve been a fan of his for 10-plus years, so it’s a great chance to work with someone that we’ve been fans of for a long time.”

Both MURS and ¡Mayday! are known for making music with heavy, serious and conscious themes. With ¡MursDay!, they decided to switch creative gears. “My intention was to make something that was light, that was celebratory,” MURS says. “I wanted to get with them and do something fun. Every time I’ve seen them, they’ve just been fun guys and I don’t feel like a lot of the stuff that’s released on Strange showcases that side of them, so we decided we wanted to do something more upbeat and fun. Also, both of our live shows are very high-energy and I wanted to do something that would translate well, so that when you see it live, the chemistry we had in the studio and on the album would all come together.”

To this end, ¡MursDay!’s “Bitcoin Beezy” showcases MURS and ¡Mayday!’s comic side, while the albums first single “Tabletops” highlights MURS, Wrekonize and Bernz’s lyrical potency.

¡MursDay! will also be hitting the road on their first ever tour together as a collective. The 8-city jaunt starts in Seattle onJune 12. See below for complete list of tour dates.

One of rap’s preeminent crews, ¡Mayday! has released two albums on Strange Music, 2012’s Take Me To Your Leader and 2013’s Believers. The 4-piece all hail from Miami, Florida and consist of Wrekonize (MC), Bernz (MC), Gianni Cash (Bass/DJ/Producer) and NonMS (Percussion).

LA rap veteran and entrepreneur MURS is known for his string of solo albums, as well as five acclaimed projects with producer 9th Wonder, a series of collaborative albums with Atmosphere’s Slug and a bevy of releases as a member of the rap group Living Legends. MURS is also the owner of the Paid Dues premiere hip-hop festival and the author of The Making Of Murs’ Love & Rockets Vol 1 The Transformation.
